This week the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced they are reevaluating the Accelerated Payment Program and suspending the Advanced Payment Program to Part B suppliers. These are loan programs, not grants, for health care providers and suppliers that were temporarily expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since expanding the programs on March 28, CMS approved “almost 24,000 applications advancing $40.4 billion in payments” to Part B suppliers, including doctors and non-physician practitioners under the Advanced payment Program.
