CMS published an interim final rule that makes regulatory and policy changes to various aspects of the Medicare and Medicaid programs in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The regulatory changes went into effect on May 8, 2020. This is the second COVID-19-related IFR that CMS has released this year. This rule addresses several issues, including temporary expansion of scope of practice for health care workers, temporary relocation of provider-based departments, temporary treatment locations for certain hospital outpatient services, GME and more.
