House Committee Proposes Legislation for New Drugs, Treatments

The Hill reports that the House Energy and Commerce Committee submitted a draft of legislation that would speed up the approval of new drugs and treatments. The initiative is known as 21st Century Cures, and includes adding $10 billion to the National Institute of Health’s budget over the next five years. The legislation would also overhaul the Food and Drug Administration. Full story.
