Joint Commission Seeks Public Comment for Hip/Knee Measures

In early 2016, The Joint Commission (TJC) will launch a new Advanced Certification program for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacements. TJC is currently finalizing the standardized performance measures for this program. The Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) for this project included several AAHKS leaders and members. The TAP identified performance measures for process improvement, outcomes including patient-reported outcomes in hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers performing total hip and total knee replacements. TJC is proposing a set of six draft candidate measures, which are open for public comment this month. AAHKS statements and the AAHKS Summit Consensus Report are referenced by TJC, and the measures align with AAHKS policy.
