Message from Dr. Lavernia:
Anyone that has any hardware or equipment they want to donate please send it to:
Operation Walk Haiti
Orthopedics Inc.
2860 W. State Rd 84, Suite 113
Ft. Lauderdale, fl 33312
There is a receiving crew and over 20,000 sq. ft. of space for storage.
We will catalogue and make available to any group that requests it in Haiti.
Will also try to deliver it promptly (I have a few patients that have committed verbally to fly their Lears as soon as the airspace opens up). No commercial / private flights for probably another 72 hrs.
Will post over the next 5 days on the web equipment availability as we receive it to any group in place in Haiti.
The most needed equipment right now is:
1. Gigli saws (lots) or power saws
2. Wound VAC dressings
3. Tourniquets (inflatable BP cuff w valve release)
4. Antibiotics (lots)
5. Anesthesia machines (lots of anesthesiologists here)
6. Endotrachael or LMA
7. Lavage irrigation equipment
8. Fluoro machines (mini)
9. BOVIE machine is key for amputations
10. Pediatric ortho surgeons
11. Amputation Kits
There is UN base power to plug and recharge stuff.
Will take clean but used Ex-fixes, nails and plates and expired antibiotics.
