A study published ahead of print in the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, “Clinical outcomes of remote asynchronous telerehabilitation are equivalent to traditional therapy following total knee arthroplasty: A randomized control study” by AAHKS members Stefano A. Bini, MD and John P. Mahajan, MD looks at post-operative telerehabilitation. Patients and physical therapists used a video software platform that allowed them to communicate in their own time without having to synch schedules. According to the study, “The results suggest that asynchronous telerehabilitation may be a more practical alternative to real-time video visits and are clinically equivalent to the in-person care model.” Dr. Bini will present this study at the annual conference of the American Telemedicine Association in May.
