A new clinical practice guideline, “Tranexamic Acid in Total Joint Arthroplasty,” has been developed and is now available for download on the AAHKS website. AAHKS, The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA), The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The Hip Society, The Knee Society have worked together to develop evidence-based guidelines on the use of tranexamic acid (TXA) in primary total joint arthroplasty. The purpose of these guidelines is to improve the treatment of orthopaedic surgical patients and reduce practice variation by promoting a multidisciplinary evidence-based approach on the use of TXA.
