This week, AAHKS received Provisional Accreditation as a CME provider from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). We will now accredit our own CME activities such as the Annual Meeting, the Spring Meeting, webinars and co-branded meetings. In the past, we relied on the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and other organizations to sponsor our meetings.
Achieving accreditation was a lengthy and demanding process. Contributing to this effort were many in the AAHKS leadership – especially Craig J. Della Valle, MD. AAHKS staff members, Eileen Lusk and Sigita Wolfe worked with ACCME to submit our self-study report and evidence of performance in practice. Additional assistance and guidance was provided by our consultants and colleagues on the staff of the AAOS and other orthopaedic specialties.
