The Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) announced today it has awarded a $500,000 research grant to Thomas K. Fehring, MD of the OrthoCarolina Hip and Knee Center and OrthoCarolina Research Institute, Charlotte, N.C. Dr. Fehring served as AAHKS president from 2013-2014.

The OREF Clinical Research Grant in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Infection provides funding for clinical research on the diagnosis, treatment, and/or prevention of infection in total joint arthroplasty of the hip and knee. The OREF Clinical Research Grant in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Infection grant is the first grant awarded under OREF’s unique collaborative research agenda (CRA) program and was designed and funded in collaboration with AAHKS, The Hip Society, The Knee Society, Zimmer Inc., DePuy Synthes Joint Reconstruction and Biomet.
