The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that they will not deny claims because of ICD-10 miscoding for a period of 12 months when the new code set goes into effect on October 1. The Hill reports that “as long as the code is in the correct broad category,” claims will be approved. AAHKS President, Jay R. Lieberman, MD, sent a letter last month to US Representative Diane Black in support of a transitional period and full end-to-end testing of the system.
