A group of AAHKS representatives were in Washington DC this week to meet with members of the Congressional Doc Caucus and their staff. Led by Third Vice President Gregory G. Polkowski II, MD, MSc and Health Policy Council Chair Adam J. Rana, MD, advocates included Health Policy Fellows Robert A. Burnett, MD, Carl L. Herndon, MD and Ram Yakkanti, MD. Discussions with the Doc Caucus focused on the proposed cuts to the CMS Medical Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule, preserving APM participation bonus payments and fixing Prior Authorization. AAHKS also participated in the AAOS Bureau of Specialty Societies (BOS) business meetings as part of the National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference (NOLC), which provided updates on medical liability reform, physician payment reform and AI in medicine, among other issues.
