With input from several committees, including Practice Management and Advocacy, AAHKS has produced several Clinical Practice Guidelines (PGCs) specifically for hip and knee surgeons to use in their practices. Topics include optimal timing for TJA, Antirheumatic Drug Therapy and the use of several common pharmaceuticals during TJA, such as acetaminophen, tranexamic acid, opioids and gabapentinoids.  The Preventing Periprosthetic Joint Infection with Patients Undergoing Dental Procedures CPG was recently updated and is based on a systematic review of published studies examining the influence of dental care and procedures on outcomes after TJA as well as strategies to mitigate potential risks associated with dental care in patients with a TJA.
