The Boston Globe published an article this week on the increasing number of hip and knee replacements being performed in the United States and how the Baby Boomer generation makes up a large number of these. The article covers what reasonable expectations there are to return to activities that patients enjoyed prior to surgery. “The surgical surge has created an expanding brigade of bionic baby boomers whose artificial parts are accompanied by sky-high expectations — something doctors struggle to manage,” according to the article.
