Women In Arthroplasty Come Together in Texas

Aimed at increasing gender representation and diversity in the specialty of orthopaedic surgery, the AAHKS Women in Arthroplasty (WIA) Committee organized several events during the Annual Meeting to spotlight and support female hip and knee surgeons. A WIA-produced video is playing on the meeting’s multimedia walls, relaying real discriminatory experience faced by women surgeons and advice for allies on how to stand up to and address such discrimination. WIA will be presenting its inaugural Women in Arthroplasty Empowerment Award on Saturday, and the group is hosting a “booth crawl” on Friday evening open to all female orthopaedic surgeons in attendance.
