AAHKS submitted comments for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) proposed rule “Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems for Acute Care Hospitals and the Long-Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment System and Proposed Policy Changes and Fiscal Year 2020 Rates.” Some of the topics our comments focused on are:
- Support for CMS proposed changes to foster the use of new technology that can ultimately help increase efficacy, effectiveness, and overall quality of patient care
- The use of patient reported outcome tools for the collection of data to assess clinical improvement of outcomes
- Support of CMS’ proposal to add social determinants of health to the data collected under the Long-Term Care Hospital Quality Reporting Program
