WBEZ-NPR in Chicago recently reported on a patient education readability study conducted by University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in England. Researchers evaluated patient brochures on hip and knee replacement and found the readability level to be higher than that of the average reader in Great Britain. As part of the study, “researchers recruited 57 nearby elementary school children ages 8-10 to help” write and illustrate brochures after receiving a lesson about hip replacement. Read the full story and some of the students’ brochures.
