The following symposium takes place on Thursday, November 2, 2017 prior to the 2017 AAHKS Annual Meeting general session:

How to Fix the US Health Care System: The Value Agenda from Different Perspectives
3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Stryker

This symposium will start with a keynote address by Wael K. Barsoum, MD to provide a big-picture view of the challenges facing health care in the US and what needs to be done to fix it. US health care continues to evolve and is facing rapid change. Instead of discussing the changes you already hear so much about, this talk will provide a macro view of what the future needs to look like in order to provide better outcomes for all Americans.

The second part of the symposium will focus on how orthopaedic surgeons can prepare and what they need to be doing now in order to be on the winning side of health care. This session will be moderated by Richard Conn, MD. A panel of surgeons will provide differing perspectives on what they are doing or are planning to do depending on their employment situation and vision for the future.
