Three US Health Systems Create “Take the Volume Pledge”

HealthLeaders Media reported this week that Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System and the University of Michigan Health System have announced a “Take the Volume Pledge” campaign among their combined 20 hospitals. “The campaign aims to reduce complications linked to insufficient practice by setting minimum volume thresholds on 10 surgical procedures. The thresholds apply to hospitals and surgeons,” the author explains. The campaign’s recommended minimum volume thresholds for hip and knee replacement surgeries is 50. Full story.
