AAHKS Names Zarski Executive Director
Rosemont, Ill. – The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) has named Michael J. Zarski, JD, Executive Director. In making the announcement, Thomas K. Fehring, MD, President of the association stated, “After an extensive national search, we are very pleased to have found someone with Mike Zarski’s vast experience in areas vital to the continued growth of AAHKS.”
Zarski comes from the American Osteopathic Information Association where he was Executive Director. He has had a long and distinguished career with medical associations, including serving as Chief Information Officer for the American Osteopathic Association and Senior Legislative Counsel for the American Medical Association. Prior to entering medical association management, he served as an Assistant Regional Attorney in Chicago for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
“I’m delighted to be joining a solid organization of dedicated professionals,” Zarski said. “I know that the Arthroplasty subspecialty faces challenges as our health care system evolves. I look forward to working with AAHKS as it continues to advance its mission and serves the needs of its members.”
Robert A. Hall, the previous Executive Director, will serve as Zarski’s advisor to assist in the transition until Hall’s retirement date of November 30, 2013. “AAHKS has been one of the most successful associations in the country for the last five years,” Hall said, “I’m very pleased that the Board has selected such an experienced and capable successor. Mike will bring both new skill sets and a fresh viewpoint to the position, and I believe AAHKS will go from strength to strength in the coming years under his guidance.”
