Applications for the 2026–2027 AAHKS Health Policy Fellowship must be received by Tuesday, Sept. 30. This program engages fellows in the policy-making process, guided by AAHKS mentors, to become more effective advocates for the profession. The fellowship runs on the calendar year and is open to orthopaedic surgeons in the US currently participating in an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship, or who have completed a fellowship and are within the first four years of their clinical practice. Applications can be submitted to jkerr@aahks.org and must include the following: 

  • Cover Letter and current Curriculum Vitae. 
  • Personal statement: 500 words or less describing why you want to be a Fellow, explaining your health policy interests and reasons these issues are important to you.
  • For surgeons-in-training, a letter of support from the Director of their Adult Reconstruction Fellowship. 
  • For in-practice surgeons, two letters of support from AAHKS Fellow Members who have in-depth knowledge of your practice and advocacy interest(s).
