2026 Match & Fellowship Updates

The AAHKS Fellowship Oversight Committee is trialing a Universal Interview Release Date for the 2025–26 Match application cycle, similar to 2024. For interviews scheduled to occur after Jan. 1, 2026, programs should release their fellowship interview invitations on Dec. 1, 2025. For interviews taking place before Dec. 31, fellowship programs can issue interview invitations prior to Dec. 1 on a rolling basis. After Dec. 1, interview invitations can be extended to applicants off a waiting list on a rolling basis. AAHKS will also be implementing a 24-hour waiting period for accepting interview applications. The AAOS Board of Specialty Societies also approved a two-year trial period for “signaling” in the Match, with programs and applicants allocated 10 signals each to indicate their top choices. More information on these new initiatives will be sent directly to arthroplasty fellowship programs and discussed at the Fellowship Directors Forum on Friday, Oct. 24, at 9:30–10:30 a.m. during the AAHKS Annual Meeting.
