AAHKS volunteers from the Board of Directors, Advocacy Committee, Health Policy Fellows and other committees convened in Washington, D.C. for our annual Legislative Retreat. Leaders met with more than two dozen Congressional offices (including honorary AAHKS member Sen. John Barrasso, MD) regarding physician payment reform, supporting long-term Alternative Payment Model (APM) participation bonus payments and implementation of prior authorization reform. Members of the AAHKS advocacy group also attended a hearing of the Energy & Commerce Committee about the sustainability of health care spending. The Retreat concluded with a health policy strategy session for future engagement with CMS and Congress.
