RPI Researchers Explore Use of Implant Sensors

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute biomedical engineers have developed an implantable sensor that can be attached to implants used in hip and knee replacement surgeries. The wireless, battery and power-free sensor is powered by an external device. The in vivo data can be transmitted to the surgeon in order to give real-time information from the surgery site.
