AAHKS Comments on CMS Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule

This week AAHKS submitted our comments on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) CY2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule. AAHKS comments include a call for CMS to join physician associations in calling on Congress for reform of the conversion factor to remove the requirement for budget neutrality adjustments, which has led to a continued decrease in physician reimbursement; concerns about how valuation of global surgical packages are evaluated; approval of increases in RVUs for 27447 & 27130 for practice expense and malpractice insurance, mostly offsetting the reduction in the 2023 conversion factor, leading to level TJA reimbursement rates for 2023.
