AAHKS, along with 52 other medical organizations, submitted a letter to CMS Administrator Seema Verma, MPH to express opposition to a proposal in the 2020 CMS Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule “not to incorporate into the global codes the adjusted values for the revised office/outpatient evaluation & management (E/M) codes.” The letter urges CMS to apply the “American Medical Association/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC)-recommended work and time values for the revised office visit E/M codes for CY 2021, including the recommended adjustments to the 10- and 90-day global codes,” as not doing so could lead to differing levels of paymet for E/M codes among the different specialties. AAHKS will also submit a comment letter on the full Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule before the September 27 deadline. Read the letter.
