This week AAHKS President Bryan D. Springer, MD and Women in Arthroplasty Committee Chair Rina Jain, MD, FRCSC wrote to American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) President April D. Armstrong, MD to request adaptation of modifications to travel and case collection requirements for this year’s Part II Examination. AAHKS supports reasonable accommodations for pregnant and newly postpartum candidates, as well as others with compelling temporary travel restrictions who may not be able to travel during the scheduled test dates in July. For these women and others with compelling temporary travel restrictions, deferring the exam for a full year seems unreasonable in light of other options.
