The American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) announced late last week that it plans to add an alternate oral examination date in 2023 to provide accommodation for examinees dealing with specific life events that make attendance at the July examination dates not possible. AAHKS sent a letter to ABOS urging them to make this change to accommodate examinees who are unable to attend the exams due to military deployment, childbirth and pregnancy, medical issues or family tragedy. In its press release, ABOS states they plan to offer the alternate date in fall 2023 and will release more specifics within the next 30 days.
