To continue the momentum from Arthroplasty Unity Day, yesterday’s advocacy event in conjunction with the 2023 AAHKS Annual Meeting, we’re asking all AAHKS members to urge Congress to pass H.R. 2474, the Strengthening Medicare Patients and Providers Act, by sending a letter today. This bill would reform Medicare physician payments and preserve quality, choice and access for beneficiaries. Medicare payments to joint replacement surgeons dropped 65% in the last 30 years, adjusted for inflation. Real, stable and permanent reform of Medicare physician payment must ensure that reimbursement grows with inflation, grows commensurate with facility payments and does not pit medical specialties against each other.
