Members will be asked to approve changes to the AAHKS Bylaws at the Annual Business Meeting on November 5, 2023, during the 2023 AAHKS Annual Meeting in Dallas. The proposed bylaws change would amend the Associate Member category by including physicians who have a clinical role in treating patients undergoing hip and/or knee arthroplasty. Currently, AAHKS has no member category for physicians who are not orthopaedic surgeons. A growing number of other specialists, such as anesthesiologists and internists focus their practices on the treatment of hip and knee arthroplasty patients in the perioperative period, during preoperative optimization and post operative rehabilitation. These providers attend the AAHKS Annual Meeting, read the AAHKS journals and seek access to AAHKS member benefits, often with the encouragement of the AAHKS-member surgeons with whom they work. Members may review the proposed changes to the Bylaws here.
