A study published in the November issue of the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery examined trends in the orthopaedic surgery subspecialty fellowship match from 2010 through 2017. The study concluded that “adult reconstruction fellowship training has recently gained popularity at a more rapid rate than the other subspecialty fellowship pathways, although hand surgery consistently maintains a very high rate of positions filled.” The authors hope their findings assist fellowship directors in their roles and also to help current residents set expectations in the application and career planning processes.
