Single-Center Analysis of Analgesic Drug Use after TJA

A study published in Arthritis Research & Therapy sought to identify risk factors for the increased use of opioids and other analgesics one year after hip or knee replacement surgery. The single-center study, involving analysis of 13,000 hip and knee replacement cases in Finland, focused on comorbidities and surgery-related factors. Authors found that not only obesity and preoperative use of analgesics predicted postoperative use, but also older age and greater number of comorbidities. Read full-text article.
