2026 Match Update & Plans for 2027 Match

The 2026 Orthopaedic Fellowship Match took place on April 14, and reports show another strong year for the future of arthroplasty. Overall, 211 applicants successfully matched into a hip and knee fellowship program, an increase of 13 matched positions over 2025. Arthroplasty programs offered a total of 240 total spots; programs with immediate vacancies are encouraged to use the SFMatch “Vacancies” search in their recruitment efforts. Any institutions or programs interested in starting a new arthroplasty fellowship program should read through the timeline and resources on the AAHKS website; programs wishing to join the 2027 Match must apply by Monday, June 1, to be considered. AAHKS will be contacting all existing programs in early June to begin the annual renewal process.
