At Thursday’s Leadership Retreat, AAHKS Council and Committee leaders joined the AAHKS Board of Directors for a special planning session. Representatives from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) presented information on its Surgeon WellBeing Coalition, a group of 62 participating surgical organizations, and ways ACS and AAHKS can collaborate. The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) shared recent updates to its policies governing accredited providers of CME, which directly affect AAHKS members (see the story below), and opened the floor for discussion on best practices in planning CME events. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) reviewed its efforts to ensure patient safety and set universal standards within orthopaedic surgery residencies and fellowships. The American Medical Association (AMA) and its RVS Update Committee (AMA-RUC) each provided reports of interest to AAHKS leadership regarding the new AAHKS membership in the AMA House of Delegates as well as our collaboration on physician reimbursement. The AAHKS Board of Directors convened following the Leadership Retreat to review new AAHKS Fellowship Recognition and new member applications, among other business
