This week AAHKS joined the American Medical Association and more than 110 other state and specialty societies in opposing efforts to include any surprise medical billing provisions in the COVID-19 legislation that is under discussion currently in the U.S. Congress. The letter states that “now is not the time to adopt divisive surprise billing legislation,” arguing that the conversation around appropriate provisions of surprise billing still need to be worked through and they have not been appropriately done during the pandemic.
