Huddleston, Yates, Bolognesi

On Tuesday, AAHKS President Michael P. Bolognesi, MD, was joined by James I. Huddleston III, MD and Adolph J. Yates Jr., MD in representing AAHKS in a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) Innovation Center listening session on potential future bundled payment models related to osteoarthritis and spine-related conditions. In addition to providing expertise on hip and knee care to the Innovation Center staff, the AAHKS team made visits to some offices on Capitol Hill. The Hill discussions included issues related to payment and to the continued issues related to total knee arthroplasty coming of the CMS inpatient only list (IPO), as well as those anticipated by the removal of total hip arthroplasty from the IPO starting January 1, 2020. This was also a topic covered at the 2019 AAHKS Annual Meeting Town Hall discussion. You can read the AAHKS summary of the CMS OPPS/ASC final rule here.
