AAHKS Signs Scope of Practice Letter to VA

On June 24, AAHKS joined the American Medical Association (AMA) and more than 85 other specialty and state societies expressing concerns about the Health Care Practice in Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Memorandum published by the Under Secretary of Health on April 21, 2020. Specifically, the letter requests the VA to amend Directive 1899 relating to the scope of practice for non-physician processionals, including CRNAs, “to practice without physician oversight during the national health emergency”.
