Gary Stevens, three-time Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes winner and National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame inductee, has announced that he will have a total hip replacement this month. “I wasn’t ready to hang it up and I still don’t know if I’m ready,” he said in an article published in The Daily Racing Form. “I’m going to have the procedure done next week and I’ll play it by ear.” Stevens is 53 and originally from Idaho.
