Action is likely on the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) repeal bill the week of June 15. AAHKS sent a letter to Congress in support of IPAB repeal. Visits by surgeons during the National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference also helped it reach a tipping point of 220 co-sponsors – allowing it to be considered on the House floor. The “Protecting Senior’s Access to Medicare Act” was introduced by Rep. Phil Roe, MD (R-TN) and Rep. Linda Sanchez, (D-CA) and now has 232 bipartisan cosponsors. Senate version S. 141, introduced by Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), now has 37 co-sponsors.
