Mortality After Hip and Knee Replacements Halved in UK

London online blog OnMedica published statistics from the National Joint Registry of England, Wales and Northern Ireland that show mortality rates have halved in the UK. Louise Newson reports that “90 day mortality rates after hip replacement fell from 0.56% in 2003 to 0.29% in 2011 and that 45 day mortality rates after knee replacement fell from 0.37% to 0.2% over the same period.” Full story.
