The New Zealand Ministry of Health launched two new patient videos this week with help from the “Enhanced Recovery After Surgery” (ERAS) collaborative program. The ERAS pathway is a national effort to ensure that patients are in the best possible condition for surgery, have the best possible management during and after surgery, and participate in the best possible rehabilitation after surgery. The Ministry of Health coordinated with 18 regional boards of health to create and produce the videos. In the last year, New Zealand has recorded 44,000 more hip and knee replacement surgeries than in 2008. Watch the videos.
