Orthopaedists Offer Advice to Young Physicians on Academic Medicine

Orthopedics Today published an interview with four orthopaedists, including AAHKS past president John J. Callaghan, MD, on the challenges and benefits of pursuing academic medicine. They explore topics of balancing clinical practice, research, education and administration in their careers. “For me, the great benefit has been to get to know a lot of mentors and peers who are contributing and who have the same goals in medicine as I do. It has also given me the opportunity to talk to them about the challenges that we all have.
