A study published in the journal Science Advances from the American Association for the Advancement of Science, “High hardness in the biocompatible intermetallic compound β-Ti3Au,” shows a new hard material created from titanium and gold could be used for hip and knee implants among other uses. TrendinTech reported, “Results from the study showed that by making the titanium-3-gold compound at high temperatures produces a crystalline form of the beta version of the alloy which is four times harder than titanium.” Full story.
