Research published online this week in The Journal of Arthroplasty found that a shorter hospital stay is not associated with increased risk on 90-day hospital returns. Lead author Christine J. Wu, MD and her team examined whether short stay arthroplasty, defined as length of stay of less than 24 hours, would “influence 90-day readmissions and ED visits at a tertiary referral center.” Authors found that a short stay was associated with lower risk of 90-day readmissions/ED visits and lower average total costs.
