This week AAHKS joined AAOS and other orthopaedic societies in writing to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to strongly oppose the efficiency adjustment to work RVUs and physician intraservice time that was implemented by CMS to existing codes that were reviewed during the 2025-2026 cycle for implementation in the CY 2027 physician fee schedule, as they have already undergone timely and comprehensive study to account for efficiency. In addition, AAHKS, AAOS and other orthopaedic societies wrote the Congressional House Committee on Appropriations, urge the Committee to uphold its commitment to our nation’s servicemembers by reinstating the $30 million appropriation within the DoD Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) for the Peer Reviewed Orthopaedic Research Program (PRORP) within conference negotiations for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027.
